Romney releases personal tax documents

Mitt Romney released over 500 pages of documents on Tuesday relating to his and his wife Ann’s tax affairs. The published material includes income tax returns for 2010, estimates for 2011, as well as filings regarding their charitable foundation, two blind trusts set up in the couple’s names, and a trust created for their children. The former Massachusetts governor’s decision came as the result of intense pressure from the Democrats, some of the Republican presidential candidates, and even some of his supporters, who are convinced his hesitation to release such documents played a big part in his defeat in the South Carolina primary last Saturday.
