Gallup: Government too involved in people’s lives

A Gallup survey published this week reveals that the majority of voters still believe that the federal government is too much involved in the day-to-day activities of American individuals and businesses. The publication of the survey comes in the wake of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney‘s comments that President Barack Obama‘s voters were too dependent on government entitlements and Mr. Obama‘s remarks that U.S. citizens had “some obligations to each other.”

The man who had been nominated by President Barack Obama to become the next ambassador to Iraq decided to withdraw his name on Monday after a series of saucy emails he had exchanged with then Wall Street Journal reporter Gina Chon was posted on the Internet. Some Republicans asked Mr. Obama to reconsider his choice soon after the messages were made public.
