Washington suspends food aid to North Korea

Pentagon official Peter Lavoy told the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee that the Obama administration had suspended its food assistance program to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) following its decision to carry out the launch of an intercontinental missile in two weeks’ time. The move comes in the wake of President Barack Obama‘s visit to the demilitarized zone between North Korea and South Korea on Sunday.
