On the day President Barack Obama‘s senior adviser, David Axelrod, visited the Beacon Hill district of Boston to criticize Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney‘s record as Massachusetts governor, Mr. Romney held a secretly organized press conference in Fremont, Calif., in the vicinity of former solar panel manufacturer Solyndra‘s headquarters and factory.

Ron Paul Would Cut Federal Spending by $1 Trillion

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul confirmed on Monday that he would trim federal spending by $1 trillion in his first year in office. Speaking at a news conference at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Dr. Paul also stated that his “Plan to Restore America” would balance the budget within three years.

The 11-page proposal illustrates the Texas congressman’s strong belief in libertarianism and his staunch support for a smaller, less intrusive government.
