Washington suspends food aid to North Korea

Pentagon official Peter Lavoy told the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee that the Obama administration had suspended its food assistance program to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) following its decision to carry out the launch of an intercontinental missile in two weeks’ time. The move comes in the wake of President Barack Obama‘s visit to the demilitarized zone between North Korea and South Korea on Sunday.

The White House on Thursday denied offering Israel bunker-busting laser-guided bombs to attack nuclear installations in Iran. The denial followed reports in the Israeli press that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had convinced President Obama to supply his country with bunker-busting bombs in order to attack Iran’s underground nuclear sites.

Tennessee senator drops Gingrich, backs Santorum

Sen. Stacey Campfield (R-Tenn.) announced on Saturday that he was resigning as co-chairman of former House speaker Newt Gingrich‘s campaign in the Volunteer State. The Knoxville senator also confirmed that he would back former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum instead.
